It is such a sad day again, and again on the Lord’s day. How can a crazy, deranged, lunatic and yes, a fellow American, go into a church and shoot people to death?

I could say I grew up in Texas, very close to where the shooting occurred. My formative years were in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area and later on, and more specifically, at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where I graduated with a Master’s Degree in the classical languages of the Bible and in theology.

I have met God and have had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in many ways. First, let me mention God, the God of the Israelites, my God. The God that was not present at the shooting of West Freeway Church in White Settlement, Texas, yesterday, December 29, 2019. How could God have been present there? Could the Almighty, All-powerful God be present at the church while a man is killing worshippers (the sick and evil man killed two worshippers) before he was gunned down by another church worshipper?

What kind of God does nothing in such carnage?

I hear on Fox News that more people didn’t get killed because of the “good“ gun laws of Texas. Well, while we are at it, let us then pass a law to kill evil itself. To Kill Satan himself. Is that possible? Does God know where Satan is? How do we locate Satan and then pass a good Texas gun law to kill Lucifer, Satan himself? Let us kill the source of evil and be done with it. After all, more shootings will inevitably occur and God is not protecting the churches where mass murderers walk in and start shooting. And do not talk to me about races, because killings are happening in churches with white people, black people, colored people, and yes, in Jewish synagogues as well as in Muslim mosques (Where is Allah to defend them?). Locations do not matter and the God of these churches do not seem to care neither to protect those worshipping Him (or Her?).

Why go to these churches if we are left to save ourselves by carrying guns into churches now, and If we have to take matters into our own hands?

Makes me think that God is not present anymore in our services. Let us go worship God someplace else. How about in Spirit and in Truth?

Jesus warned us about this: Jesus said to her (the Samaritan woman), “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father.”

Where are you God? Is that your church? The West Freeway Church of Christ, is that your church Jesus Christ? Who better to protect us than God Himself?

Yes, my thoughts and prayers are with the family of those killed and suffering, but my plea is to God Himself and to His Son Jesus Christ who is not going to die on the cross again. He is now resurrected and all powerful too. He is God Himself, right?
